PEXP1-SX, PEXP4-SX, PEXP8-SX and PEXP16-SX are wearout extenders, designed to go on top of the PCI Express Bus Isolation and other extenders. These are short and low cost extenders with heavy duty connectors of 2000 - 3000 insertion cycles. Their purpose is to prolong the life of other extenders in heavily used environment. They can also be used to prevent the user's I/O board's gold fingers from damage, when I/O boards are used to test the motherboards repeatedly. These wearout extenders can also be used as bus converters, when higher channel connectors are soldered on top of a lower channel PCBs. All the wearout extenders have the same height, at 1.05", and the lengths are 1.72", 2.27", 2.94", 4.24" respectively.

PEXP4-SX-4/1, PEXP8-SX-8/4 and PEXP16-SX-16/8 are wearout extenders, with reduced lanes. These wearout extenders are primarily designed to be used as bus converters, with higher channel connectors and lower channel PCB gold fingers. These extenders have heavy duty connectors of 2000 - 3000 insertion cycles. Their purpose is to prolong the life of other connector contacts or goldfingers in heavily used environments. All the wearout extenders have the same height, at 1.05", and the widths are 2.27", 2.94", 4.24" respectively.
